Envest swoops for another agency acquisition

Insurance distribution and investment company Envest has acquired another tourism-focused underwriting agency.

Envest has secured Ken Tame and Associates, an agency specialising in insurance for recreational vehicles including motorhomes, caravans, campervans, slide-ons and fifth wheelers.

Previously owned by Allianz, the agency has an exclusive arrangement to provide motor insurance for the 70,000 plus members of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA).

The acquisition follows Envest gaining a majority stake in caravan park specialist All Parks Insurance underwriting agency, as reported by insuranceNEWS.com.au on Monday.

Envest MD Greg Mullins says Ken Tame is a well-established brand with a reputation for providing "exceptional cover and claims service", with scope to grow its offering and customer base in the thriving adventure tourism sector.

The acquistion was completed on March 31 by Envest controlled entity, Envest Direct Agencies.

“Tourism Research Australia estimated that Australians enjoyed 13 million domestic caravan and camping trips annually in 2019 – an 8.5% increase from the previous year,” Mr Mullins said.

“Camping and caravanning also represents a significant proportion of the domestic leisure market accounting for a third of all trips to regional Australia and we anticipate that the popularity of this sector will only continue to increase, particularly while overseas travel is restricted.

“Ken Tame is a natural complementor and extension of what we already do through Envest Direct for our Club 4x4 brand and will be an integral part of our strategy to service the growing outdoor adventure and leisure markets.”

Ken Tame CEO Con Tsobanopoulos says “common synergies” and an entrepreneurial focus “will continue to drive strong growth and great service for customers”.

Mr Mullins says Envest’s extensive insurance market network will help Ken Tame develop new insurer relationships and products.
