Cover-More names new CIO to drive tech focus

Cover-More has appointed a new Group CIO, tasked with leading an acceleration of the insurer’s digital transformation as international travel starts to resume.

Conor Breslin, joins the Zurich-owned travel business after holding the role of Group CIO for Provident Financial Group and Vanquis Bank in the UK.

“As we continue to evolve our app-based customer propositions and open up a new world of travel protection for travellers, the role of CIO is critical to ensure our technology is best in class,” Group CEO Cara Morton said today.

“Conor brings a wealth of industry experience that will underpin our continued strong emergence from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global travel and the travel industry.”

Cover-More says Mr Breslin, who will be based in the UK, is skilled in digital transformation, enterprise architecture, information security, IT service management and IT strategy alignment.

The insurer, headquartered in Sydney, has operations in 16 countries and Mr Breslin will lead teams across the US, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe.

Prior to 2017, Mr Breslin was Head of Strategy and Architecture for easyJet and has also worked with Accenture and AstraZeneca in IT leadership roles.

“Cover-More apps such as Freely and Travel On show how the company has adapted to a world changed by COVID-19,” Mr Breslin said.

“Using geo-location technology and a customer-first focus, they provide better and more tailored protection than ever before. I’m looking forward to working on the further evolution of this transforming technology.”

Former Group CIO Nicki Doble remains with the business until the end of next month as a strategic adviser and to facilitate the transition.

As reported earlier this week, Cover-More's Asia Pacific CEO Judith Crompton is also set to leave at the end of the year.
