New agency Angel Underwriting says it is focused on speed, technology and broker service. 

Backed by Lloyd’s of London, Angel is launching with contract works, contractors’ liability and life sciences covers, and says more product lines are likely.

The agency, headquartered in Sydney, says it was founded in reaction to broker frustration at slow response times, rigid underwriting and unnecessary complexity. 

“We genuinely think there’s a better way to do this,” head of operations Julie Nantais said. “The focus is straightforward: fast responses, sharp underwriting, and actually being easy to work with. That’s what brokers want and that’s what we’re delivering.” 

A dedicated online broker platform for contract works and contractors’ liability is planned for later this year. Angel also says it has committed to significant ongoing investment in technology and underwriting expertise.

“We’re just getting started. We’ve invested in smart technology and expert talent,” the agency said.
