Swiss Re is searching for a new Australian and New Zealand CEO after Trent Thomson was promoted to a global role.

Mr Thomson has led the ANZ business since November 2022 and been with Swiss Re for 22 years, after joining in 2004 as a casualty underwriter.

He will become the group’s head of global specialty, based in London, from July 1.

Property and casualty reinsurance chief underwriting officer Gianfranco Lot says the promotion “reflects the depth of our talent at Swiss Re”. Mr Thomson “brings the combination of deep underwriting expertise and client understanding … that is required to lead our specialty business forward through increasingly complex risks”.
