CGU to contact customers affected by Claim Central halt

Administrators will hold a creditors’ meeting on Wednesday to discuss options for the Australian property business of Claim Central.

The business entered voluntary administration and ceased trading this month after holding unsuccessful sale talks over the property operation, which manages assessment, restoration and repairs under the brands Claim Central Property and Helio Restoration.

CGU, which was using Claim Central services, is contacting affected customers and monitoring claims in progress to minimise disruption to assessment, repair and completion times, a spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“All claims are being reviewed and customers/brokers will be contacted to discuss their claim and next steps for reallocation to one of CGU’s extensive network of builders,” the spokesperson said.

Claim Central was founded in Sydney in 2000 by Brian Siemsen and also has offices in the US, New Zealand and South Africa.

Mr Siemsen told insuranceNEWS.com.au: “We’ve been navigating extraordinary pressures: rising costs, supply chain strain, and a prolonged benign catastrophe period that’s put real margin pressure on insurance-contracted work.

“It’s been a really challenging mix, but we’ve worked hard to find a sustainable way forward in the best interests of our people, clients and partners.”

AUB acquired Claim Central’s Hello Claims motor assessing and repair brand last year, and Wilbur Technologies was separated earlier this year as a standalone business that Mr Siemsen still heads.
