Swiss Re platform ‘demonstrates potential’ for rollout
Swiss Re sees global potential for its Underwriting Ease platform following feedback from life industry clients.
The platform employs technology including artificial intelligence to extract and organise key applicant data from referred cases, allowing underwriters to quickly apply expertise where it is needed most.
Underwriters cut time sorting through pages of documents that may not be relevant, Swiss Re says.
“While Swiss Re has deployed the platform in North America, additional proof-of-concept initiatives with clients in the UK, France, Germany and Asia demonstrate its global potential in lifting productivity of underwriting teams – whether they are facing capacity constraints, rising workloads or simply aiming to make more effective use of their expert resources,” the reinsurer said.
Swiss Re says some customers have described the platform as a “second brain” helping expert underwriters tackle case complexity.
“The benefits are manifold. We’ve observed a significant reduction in the time underwriters spend reviewing each case,” Swiss Re said. “Insights that Underwriting Ease provides are also proactive, identifying anomalies in applications and proposing follow-up actions to quickly remedy information gaps so that an accurate, timely decision can be made.”
