Claims compliance among code monitor focus areas

The Life Code Compliance Committee has outlined three key priorities in its 2025-26 work plan.

It will focus on compliance with obligations around claims, including where decisions are changed following a complaint; supporting the code review; and developing improved impact reporting to show how the code has contributed to better industry practice.

Other projects include finalising an inquiry into compliance with claims handling time frames and investigating areas of interest, in particular compliance with financial hardship obligations.

“Our work plan sets out our priorities and activities to monitor and improve life insurers’ compliance with the code and support good consumer outcomes,” the committee said.

“If needed, the work plan activities may [be] revised to address new issues.”
