Motor accident compensation claims are regulated pursuant to the Motor Accidents (Compensation) Act 1979 (NT) (Act) and Motor Accidents Compensation Regulations 1984 (NT) (which together establishes the Motor Accidents Compensation (MAC) Scheme). The Motor Accidents Compensation Commission (MACC) was established in 2015 as the body responsible for the administration of the Scheme. The MACC outsources claims management and scheme administration services of the Scheme and the current agreement expires on 31 December 2024.
The MACC is seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced service provider to deliver MAC Scheme case management and scheme administration services in accordance with the Motor Accidents (Compensation) Act 1979.
The successful service provider will be required to live MACC’s values and manage claims in an empathetic, efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. The successful service provider will also provide scheme administration services on behalf of the Commission.
An overview of the services to be provided are as below:
1. Claims management:
- End to end claims management services, delivered by NT based claims personnel, across no fault, lifetime care, common law, dependency and recovery claims
- Designated Person and informal decision management
- Coordination of legal services and claims litigation
- Customer Service Management
- Complaints management
- Managing conflicts of interest
- Development and maintenance of MAC Scheme policies and procedures
- Recoveries
2. Scheme administration services:
- Third party service provider engagement and performance management
- Reporting
- Internal audit
- Secretariat functions of oversight meeting framework
- Drafting key scheme briefing memoranda to MACC
- Management of MACC prudential management and governance compliance obligations
- Management of MAC Scheme (financial) accounts
- Liaison with scheme actuaries and auditors to facilitate annual programs
- Management of the MAC Scheme’s risk management framework
The tender is a public tender and opened on 27 May 2024.
