Lloyd’s to shift EU business to Brussels

Lloyd’s will transfer all European Union insurance business to Brussels before the end of 2020.

It says underwriters will continue to pay out valid claims on policies in the event Britain leaves the EU with no transition plan in place.

The market expects to have the full support of all European regulators and the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority.

Lloyd’s Brussels will write insurance for the European Economic Area from January.
