New leadership team moves up at EBM

EBM Insurance Brokers has announced a new leadership team to take the company into its 40th anniversary next year.

The revamp follows MD Jeff Adams’ decision to retire after nearly 30 years in management roles at the brokerage.

Mr Adams joined EBM in 1986 as GM in charge of broking operations. He will remain as a non-executive director and “executive consultant” to the business.

Under the new structure, founder Alan Bishop remains as Executive Chairman, while Ward Dedman becomes MD Operations and Steve Sparkes MD Broking.

Mr Dedman joined EBM in 1999 and was previously GM for strategic planning, governance, marketing and development, and specialist services. He is WA divisional committee chairman of the National Insurance Brokers Association, and in 2007 won the association’s prestigious Warren Tickle Memorial Award for outstanding young professionals.

Mr Sparkes joined the group in 1988 and was previously GM responsible for comprehensive corporate insurance, risk management lines and servicing key clients.

Meanwhile, Ryan Cameron has joined EBM as State Manager for WA. He was previously a director and senior broker with Perth-based Phoenix Insurance Brokers.

Sharon Fox-Slater remains head of EBM’s major landlord insurance division RentCover, but with the new title of EGM. Melbourne-based Ms Fox-Slater joined the company in 1993.

Mr Bishop says the new leadership structure provides a “formidable depth of talent and experience”.

“Risk management is becoming more complex and the world of insurance is changing dramatically but EBM has strong foundations. This enables us to… capitalise on emerging challenges.”

EBM has annual revenue of $200 million and employs 200 people in nine offices nationally.
