Crawford sends in the drones

Crawford & Company has established Crawford Drones, a national service that aims to improve catastrophe and operational claims management.

The claims management specialist will draw from a pool of 40 accredited drone pilots to provide high-resolution images in real time to assess roofs, property maintenance needs and damage, chemical spills and crop losses.

Drones can also assess the extent and scope of damage across wide areas following catastrophes.

National Business Development Manager Darren Trott says drone technology complements traditional claims assessment, allowing access to areas that are otherwise inaccessible or hazardous.

“Drone technology is not a silver bullet for the insurance industry, but drones provide a significant opportunity to improve the speed and quality of source information, allowing faster and more accurate claim decisions to be made,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
