Broker secures Assurex deal

GSA Insurance Brokers has been selected as the exclusive Australia and New Zealand representative for US-based global broker network Assurex.

The previous deal was with OAMPS, but that ended with the Arthur J Gallagher purchase because it was deemed to no longer meet Assurex’s requirement for independence.

GSA director Scott Curley told insuranceNEWS.com.au the benefits for the Sydney-based business are twofold.

“We now have a business flow into us from all around the world, and we can also more easily place global business. It opens up new opportunities both ways.”

Mr Curley estimates the deal will raise GSA’s gross written premium by about 10%.

GSA also owns and shares the directorship of Brooklyn Underwriting. It employs 50 people, and Brooklyn Underwriting 20.
