Townsville to host industry fundraiser

The biennial North Queensland Insurance Charity Benefit and Trade Show returns to Townsville next month.

The event starts with learning and development sessions, while a panel of insurers and suppliers will hold a question-and-answer discussion.

Groups due to participate in the sessions include National Transport Insurance, QBE, CGU subsidiary Strata Unit Underwriters and Underwriting Agencies of Australia.

More than 20 exhibitors will attend the trade show.

The charity benefit will raise money for White Ribbon, which campaigns to prevent violence against women, and Walking Wounded, assisting in the psychological rehabilitation of soldiers.

The first of the biennial events was held in October 2012, attracting about 200 insurance professionals and raising $20,000 for the Queensland Cancer Foundation and Beyondblue.

In 2014 participants raised $26,000 for Beyondblue.

This year’s event is at The Ville in Townsville, with the trade show and learning sessions on Friday October 7 and the charity event the following day.
