RMA changes leadership

Westpac executive Catherine Thrum has been elected President of the Risk Management Association (RMA).

She succeeds Howard Silby, who is EGM Business Lending at NAB.

Ms Thrum is Head of Credit Policy, Governance and Strategy at Westpac, and is a member of the bank’s sustainability council.

She has worked for the bank since 1993, holding positions in risk strategy, credit policy and risk governance.

Ms Thrum supports women in the risk industry and mentors a number of promising young professionals. 

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) Group Head of Operational Risk and Compliance Susan Mackenzie is the new chairman of the RMA’s operational risk forum.

Ms Mackenzie is also Chief Risk Officer of BOQ subsidiary St Andrew’s Insurance. She is a former chief risk officer at Members Equity Bank and head of assurance at ANZ Bank.

She succeeds Oliver Leung, who is stepping down to concentrate on his new position as Head of Regulatory Affairs at Westpac.
