Looming challenges under the microscope at IBANZ conference

Emerging trends and the changing regulatory environment for insurance will be on the agenda at the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) conference in Auckland on October 2 and 3.

The outlook for regulation and the impact on brokers will be outlined by DLA Phillips Fox partner Sue Brown, who joined the firm in July from the Financial Markets Authority, where she was head of strategy.

Commercial litigator Tom Weston QC will explore a range of evolving legal issues and their impact on brokers, clients and insurers.

QBE International NZ CFO Terry Lawrence will discuss the future direction of insurance while PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner David Lamb will provide the latest viewpoints from PWC’s Insurance 2020 report.

Munich Re New Zealand Regional Manager Martin Kreft will discuss the state of the reinsurance capital market while Zurich’s Head of International Sales and Distribution Kai Dwyer will discuss emerging risks and cyber crime.

IBANZ CEO Gary Young told insuranceNEWS.com.au the conference theme of “Catch the next wave” is based around the major challenges facing brokers. He says the presentations on customer expectations and use of technology will show how brokers can respond to new challenges.
