Charities pitch to icare staff for share of $100,000

Insurance & Care NSW (icare) has donated $100,000 to charities as part of its foundation’s Pitch In events.

Three charities – WheelEasy, Limbs 4 Life and Waves of Wellness – went head to head, pitching to an audience of icare staff for a share of the cash.

Each audience member was allocated $750 from the icare Foundation to pledge to whichever charity or charities won them over.

“We wanted to bring together grassroots change-makers that have the potential to create positive, long-lasting difference in the prevention or post-injury care and treatment space,” icare Foundation GM Amanda Keogh said.

“Live crowdfunding is a unique and fun approach to capacity building for non-profits that involves our icare employees in the funding process.”

After events in Sydney and Parramatta the final tally was: WheelEasy $33,250, Limbs 4 Life $28,250 and Waves of Wellness $38,500.
