ANZIIF and TurksLegal open claims scholarship

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and law firm TurksLegal have launched their claims scholarship for this year.

It is open to insurance professionals in the Australian general insurance industry, but under rule changes introduced this year, applicants do not have to be an ANZIIF member or work in claims.

They must complete a 2500-word paper on one of five questions:

  • How do you see the role of social media impacting on claims management?
  • If you could choose, what would your internal and external dispute resolution models be?
  • In your experience, do insurers treat claims differently depending on the source?
  • Should avoidance of the claim for any intentional inflation or exaggeration of the claim be reintroduced to discourage fraud?
  • In the context of claims administration, what does the duty of utmost good faith mean for the insurer and the insured?

The winner of the ANZIIF TurksLegal Claims Scholarship will receive an overseas conference package valued at up to $8000.

Applications close on October 13, and the winner will be announced at the ANZIIF NSW General Insurance Breakfast in Sydney on December 2.
