AILA welcomes non-lawyer members

The new board of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) will step up efforts to attract insurance professionals who are not lawyers.

New President Sue Vidler says the association also wants an interstate rollout of initiatives for young professionals that are currently run by the NSW branch.

Assetinsure National Manager of Claims Ms Vidler told insuranceNEWS.com.au AILA aims to take its educational and networking activities to a wider audience.

“A lot of people who aren’t lawyers have to work with insurance lawyers, such as brokers, loss adjusters, claims managers, risk managers and company secretaries of self-insured companies.”

Ms Vidler, who is not a lawyer, says anyone associated with claims encounters legal issues and AILA is always up to date with insurance law matters.

She takes over the presidency from David Lee of Lee & Lyons, who continues on the board.

VP is Allison Grice of CGU and other board members are John Homburg of Gilchrist Connell and Victorian barrister Kim Bradey.
