Actuaries to hold Melbourne summit

More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the Actuaries Institute summit in Melbourne next month.

Themed “Take the Lead”, the May 17-19 event’s 56 sessions will cover topics such as data analytics, public policy and what the general insurance industry may look like in 2025.

Deloitte partner Stephen Huppert will discuss digital disruption and transformation, and Quantium Group Principal Mitch Prevett will talk about driving business strategy with retail analytics.

Public policy speakers include Financial System Inquiry principal adviser Geoff Atkins, who is a director at Finity Consulting, and Actuaries Institute CEO David Bell.

Other sessions will cover the National Disability Insurance Scheme, private health insurance, mental health and life insurance, and life reinsurance.

Speakers include Trevor Matthews, a non-executive director at AMP, CoverMore, Bupa and FNZ Australia, and TAL Life Deputy Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary Fred Rowley.

The event at the Grand Hyatt will begin with a cocktail party on Sunday May 17, with a gala dinner to be held on the Monday.
