Suncorp Commercial Insurance CEO Anthony Day was appointed to the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) board at a meeting in Sydney last week.

ICA President Andy Cornish has welcomed the appointment.

“Mr Day brings three decades of experience in the general insurance industry to ICA,” he said.

“His fellow directors look forward to benefitting from his insights and expertise as we seek to chart a path ahead for the sector.

“With insurers facing growing challenges from such issues as extreme weather events, disclosure and affordability, Mr Day will bring valuable perspectives to board discussions and deliberations.”

Mr Day’s appointment brings the number of ICA board members to 10. They are:

• Mr Cornish (COO, Operations Division, IAG)
• Deputy President Colin Fagen (Group Chief Strategy Officer, QBE Insurance)
• Executive Director and CEO Rob Whelan
• Noel Condon (CEO, AIG Australia)
• Heinrich Eder (MD, Munich Holdings of Australasia)
• Richard Enthoven (CEO, Hollard Insurance Company)
• Niran Peiris (MD, Allianz Australia)
• David Russell (CEO, RAA Insurance)
• Mark Senkevics (MD and Head of Australia and New Zealand, Swiss Re)
• Helen Troup (MD, Commonwealth Insurance).
