Earthquake Commission announces new CEO

New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission (EQC) has named Sid Miller as CEO, effective from today.

He replaces Ian Simpson, who resigned after six years in the role to manage GNS Science, New Zealand’s primary organisation for risk assessment.

Mr Miller previously worked as chief customer officer and head of claims management at New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation. He was also head of people and communication and head of information systems at Axa.

“Sid brings a great deal of relevant experience to the role,” EQC Chairman Maarten Wevers said.

“He has proven financial experience, a track record of strong leadership and a demonstrated commitment to customer service from previous roles.”
