Brokers hold ‘frank’ talks with SSP on system failure

Managers from software company SSP have faced about two-dozen UK brokers hit by its recent system failure, after the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) organised a meeting.

BIBA says SSP’s senior management team met with members last Monday, made a presentation based around questions submitted in advance, and addressed concerns raised at the meeting.

“A full and frank discussion was had around a range of issues and SSP pledged to visit each of the attending businesses within the next 2-4 weeks,” BIBA said.

The association will now review each of the six leading software houses and report its findings to members.

“SSP committed its support for the important initiative,” BIBA said.

A power outage at a data centre in England in late August caused the company’s cloud-based transaction system to fail, crippling operations at many UK brokers and also affecting SSP customers in New Zealand.

Some brokers are still struggling to access some document archives and other non-transactional data after service was mostly restored late last month.
