AIR Worldwide builds on terrorism model

AIR Worldwide has expanded its terrorism risk model to support scenario testing for the US and 27 other countries, including Australia.

Assistant VP Shane Latchman says the AIR Terrorism Model has added deterministic modelling of conventional weapon attacks in countries across the world.

Deterministic loss analysis estimates losses to property and workers’ compensation policies from defined attack scenarios.

AIR Worldwide says its updated Touchstone platform allows users to choose a property or target and select a weapon type, such as a truck bomb, to test “what-if scenarios”.

“In addition, in this latest release, estimates of the frequency of attacks in AIR’s probabilistic US Terrorism Model have been updated to reflect the current threat,” Mr Latchman said.

The database of potential targets has been updated to include US corporate headquarters, professional sports stadiums, prominent buildings and hotels, and “trophy” targets.
