Guy Carpenter names Pacific CEO

Global reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has appointed Ben Savill as CEO of Pacific to lead and manage its broking operations in Australia and the region, effective April 1.

Mr Savill, who will be based in Sydney, will play a crucial role in further developing the broker’s growth strategy, addressing the ever evolving and complex needs of clients in the region, the Marsh McLennan-owned business said.

He will report to Asia Pacific CEO Tony Gallagher, who is based in Hong Kong.

His appointment comes as Jeff Saper, who has been CEO for the Pacific region since 2019, prepares to relocate to Hong Kong for his new role on July 1 as Head of GC Fac Asia Pacific.

Mr Saper will succeed Luc Morement, who will become Regional Sales Leader Asia Pacific starting July 1.

Guy Carpenter says Mr Savill brings more than 27 years of market experience to the business. He was most recently chief underwriting offer of Convex Insurance in Bermuda. Prior to that, he held various senior roles in Bermuda, including as group chief underwriting officer of Fidelis and head of North American Treaty for Amlin.

“With our enhanced team and strong regional footprint, we are well positioned to deliver best-in-class solutions and support clients across Asia Pacific,” Mr Gallagher said.

“I am pleased to welcome Ben to Guy Carpenter and would like to thank Jeff for all his efforts in transforming the Pacific business since 2019.”

Mr Savill says the Pacific region faces a number of specific reinsurance risks, including heightened natural catastrophe exposures, local regulation, and varying economic headwinds.

“I look forward to being part of the journey in supporting Guy Carpenter’s clients and shaping its future growth strategy in Pacific.”
