Talbot chiefs to brief brokers

Key executives from market newcomer UK-based Talbot Underwriting will host a briefing for brokers in Sydney on Friday.

The company opened an office in Sydney in January under former Arch Insurance Australia CEO Adam Matteson.

insuranceNEWS.com.au reported in November that Talbot already writes business here from its Lloyd’s Syndicate 1183. It operates via the Lloyd’s platform in Singapore, but has decided to get closer to the local market.

Talbot is a subsidiary of Bermuda holding company Validus Holdings. It focuses on specialty risks such as marine, aviation, energy, terrorism, political risk, construction and financial institutions.

Friday's briefing will be co-hosted by the Underwriting Agencies Council and GDLaw. Talbot’s UK-based Active Underwriter James Skinner will provide an overview of the London market, Lloyd’s Vision 2025 and the role of syndicate service companies.

Singapore-based Talbot Asia CEO John Ewington and Underwriting Manager David Morris will discuss the Asian market.
