Suncorp splits chief risk and legal positions

Suncorp has separated its chief risk and legal officer roles under the latest changes to its executive team.

Acting Chief Risk and Legal Officer Fiona Thompson becomes Chief Risk Officer, while Kate Olgers has moved from Commonwealth Bank to become Chief Legal Officer.

The appointments are effective from October 17.

Suncorp CEO Michael Cameron says the changing environment has prompted the split.

“Fiona brings significant experience, having held a number of senior roles in risk and legal at Suncorp over the past 15 years,” he said.

“With a thorough understanding of our business, she combines her experience and business acumen to provide excellent technical, commercially focused and considered risk advice.”

Ms Thompson held the dual risk and legal position on an acting basis after Anna Lenahan left Suncorp to become Commonwealth Bank’s Group General Counsel.

Ms Olgers was most recently EGM legal for Commonwealth’s wealth management and technology divisions. Previous positions include general counsel at NAB.

Suncorp has also announced the appointment of David Carter as CEO Banking and Wealth, effective today.
