Suncorp signs up for fight against financial exclusion

Suncorp has joined a national “financial inclusion” program to assist up to 3 million Australians who are financially excluded and face significant economic and social hardship.

Explaining the decision to become a signatory to the Financial Inclusion Action Plan (FIAP), Suncorp Group CEO Michael Cameron says the company is committed to tackling the issue of financial exclusion in the community.

“Across the company, our teams are working with customers, government, industry, community groups and non-for-profits to develop innovative and affordable products and solutions,” he said.

Among a number of special initiatives, Suncorp already offers the Essentials by AAI product, which provides disadvantaged and low-income customers with access to affordable insurance.

FIAP is a national effort led by Good Shepherd Microfinance in partnership with EY, the Centre for Social Impact and the Australian Government.
