Mecon signs up with AIG

Mecon Insurance has quit its underwriting agency agreement with Munich Re-owned Great Lakes Australia to enter a new agreement with AIG Australia.

AIG will become Mecon’s carrier for all current and future products from June 1.

Mecon CEO Glenn Ross says the move will enable the underwriting agency to expand its product “range, reach and capacity”.

While acknowledging the “excellent relationship” Mecon enjoyed with Great Lakes Australia over the past six years, he says the partnership with AIG is a “natural fit”.

AIG Australia CEO Noel Condon says AIG has “great respect” for Mecon.

Last year AIG formed a new underwriting relationship with NM Insurance.

As reported in insuranceNEWS.com.au, AIG became underwriter for leading products and services under the Nautilus Marine brand in Australia and the NM Insurance brand in New Zealand.
