IAG confirms New Zealand risk chief role

IAG New Zealand has appointed Rachael O’Brien as Chief Risk Officer.

The move comes as Wayne Tippet, who stepped in to lead IAG’s response to Cyclone Gabrielle and North Island flooding, resumes his role as EGM Claims. Former chief risk officer Martin Hunter, who was covering for Mr Tippet, will take up a new job driving IAG’s transformation program.

Auckland-based Ms O’Brien has been acting in the risk chief role since July last year. She was formerly EM risk governance and has spent almost 11 years at IAG.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services in New Zealand, Britain, Ireland and the US, with a focus on regulatory, compliance, operational, strategic and conduct risk.
