Gallagher celebrates 90th anniversary

The Australian and New Zealand branches of Arthur J Gallagher are holding celebrations this week to mark the company’s 90th anniversary.

Arthur Gallagher founded the brokerage in Chicago on October 1, 1927, with the Australian operation beginning trading in 1985.

Today the firm has 25,000 employees, including 2500 in Australia and New Zealand, and is supported by network partners in more than 140 countries.

As part of the celebrations the company has committed to 90,000 hours of voluntary service across the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

“It’s incredible to be part of an organisation that has grown from the ambition of one man in 1927 to what it has become today,” Australia CEO Sarah Lyons told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“What’s more, the values and behaviours that shaped the business in its early days still hold true. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.”
