Freeman McMurrick gets new Aon underwriting role

Aon’s managing general agency Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM) has appointed Aon’s wholesale underwriting management company Freeman McMurrick as distributor of AUM products in Australia and New Zealand.

Aon will establish AUM in Australia as a managing general agency for risk solutions.

AUM currently underwrites $US1 billion ($1.3 billion) in premiums globally.

The appointment of Freeman McMurrick will give Australian and New Zealand brokers access to exclusive products and services supported by world-class carriers through the Freeman McMurrick brand.

Aon Risk Solutions Australia CEO Lambros Lambrou says brokers and their clients will have access to services and innovative products “that go beyond traditional offerings in the retail marketplace”.

“This enhanced offering… aligns with Aon’s global strategy around underwriting management,” he said. “We have witnessed the successful implementation of managing general agency strategies in the US and UK.

“This agreement enables us to replicate a proven model in the local market.”

Freeman McMurrick will become the channel for distribution of current Freeman McMurrick products and new AUM offerings in Australia and New Zealand.

Aon acquired Freeman McMurrick in 2006. Freeman McMurrick executive Alison Smith has been appointed AUM Director.
