Former Westpac exec joins Suncorp board

Suncorp has appointed prominent company director Sally Herman as a non-executive director, filling the vacancy left by Michael Cameron’s appointment to the position of MD and Group CEO.

Ms Herman, from Sydney, also serves on the boards of Breville, Premier Investments, Investec Property and ME Bank as a non-executive director, and is Chairman of property consulting and economics company Urbis.

Before becoming a professional non-executive director, Ms Herman had more than 25 years’ experience as a bank executive.

At Westpac – where she worked for 16 years until 2010 – she held GM roles in corporate affairs, advice, retail and business banking, and group technology.

Ms Herman is also a former associate director of private banking with Macquarie Bank.

Suncorp Chairman Ziggy Switkowski says Ms Herman will bring “fresh insight and perspective” to the board. Her appointment is effective from October 22.
