Austbrokers Chairman to leave after AGM

Austbrokers Chairman Richard Longes will retire after the company’s annual general meeting on November 26, ending 10 years in the role.

His retirement was foreshadowed last year, and he will be replaced by non-executive director David Clarke, who joined the board in February last year.

Mr Clarke is Chairman of property group Charter Hall and a former CEO of Investec Bank, Allco Finance Group, MLC and Lloyds Merchant Bank in London.

Austbrokers has also appointed former Mortgage Choice CEO Paul Lahiff to its board.

Mr Lahiff is a non-executive director of Sunsuper and is Chairman of payment services company NPP Australia and Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers.

His appointment is effective from October 1.
