Former Catlin Australia chief to run Talbot

Talbot Underwriting Australia has announced Andrew Case as its new MD.

Mr Case set up Catlin’s business in Australia and was its head of Australian operations prior to last year’s merger with XL Group.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry. A former Willis executive director based in Perth, he was recruited by Catlin to set up Catlin Australia in 2004.

Mr Case was its country head until last year, when Catlin merged with XL. Following the merger he became the new group's regional distribution director, based in Sydney, and left the company “by mutual agreement” in February.

Talbot says in a statement issued in London it is “committed to serving the Australian market and will continue to build out its capabilities in the region”.

Chief Underwriting Officer James Skinner says Mr Case’s appointment “will further drive Talbot’s plans to strengthen its international presence and expand its business lines in property, crisis management, financial lines and specialty”.

“His experience and knowledge will be invaluable for our firm and our clients as we continue to establish Talbot as a recognised leader in the region and expand our capabilities to meet client needs.”

The former MD of Talbot in Australia, Adam Matteson, left suddenly in August. He has since joined Suncorp as Property, Construction and Engineering Portfolio Manager.
