Suncorp close to complete on NSW hailstorm repairs

Suncorp has repaired or paid out on more than 18,000 cars in the six months since the Sydney hailstorm, accounting for more than 80% of the total insured.

The insurer says it is six weeks ahead of schedule with its vehicle repairs.

Suncorp has been using “pop-up” hail repair sites across Sydney and the Central Coast, with more than 270 technicians and support staff. It is relying on a network of hail repair specialists to avoid creating a backlog among drivers who have everyday accidents.

It says 84% of home roof repairs have been completed. More than 6500 homes have been repaired, ranging from minor damage to roof replacements and internal water damage.

Total damage across NSW from the storm stands at $1.31 billion.

The industry has completed 57% of motor claims, 64% of home building claims and 62% of contents claims as of last week, the Insurance Council of Australia says.
