Prince addresses Willis Towers Watson sustainability event

Willis Towers Watson has hosted a global sustainability forum in London, convened by the Prince of Wales.

Leaders from government, business, finance and society united to support the Measure What Matters project, which aims to accelerate the shift to a sustainable global economy.

The project sets out 17 goals to be delivered by 2030.

In his address the prince emphasised the importance of developing a new economic framework that puts social wellbeing at its heart.

Willis Towers Watson CEO John Haley opened the event.

“The global goals are all about risk, and Willis Towers Watson’s collective capabilities, and those across the wider industry, play an essential role in enabling governments, business and the wider financial sector to manage that risk,” Mr Haley said.

“The goals set out by the Measure What Matters project provide a vital framework that will inform our strategies and create a shared agenda to connect with partners and clients over the next three years.

“I am pleased to see the global insurance market has united to support the sustainability goals, and Willis Towers Watson is proud to join this industry-wide effort.”

Measure What Matters is a partnership between the Green Economy Coalition, Accounting for Sustainability, the Global Reporting Initiative, the International Institute for Environment and Development, and the Stockholm Environment Institute.
