New AIMS GM relishes new challenge

The broking industry should prepare for major change, according to the next GM of Austbrokers & IBNA Member Services (AIMS) Glenn Schultz.

Mr Schultz, most recently EGM Wholesale Broking for underwriting agency Quanta, will take over from Martin McAvenna, who retires on June 30.

“I’m very excited about it; it’s a big challenge,” Mr Schultz told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“Personally, I see big change in the broking landscape over the next 18 months to two years.

“A lot of brokers will want to position themselves to take advantage, and AIMS has a key role to play in this environment to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible for members and shareholders.”

The appointment was announced last week at the AIMS Conference in Barcelona by AIMS Chairman and Austbrokers Holdings CEO Mark Searles and IBNA Chairman Gary Gribbin.

Mr Schultz has more than 35 years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance broking, and was most recently an executive director of the Coverforce Group, the parent company of Quanta.

Before joining Coverforce in September 2012 he spent nine years at Aon Risk Services managing market placement and product design and development.

He has also held senior roles with JLT as CEO Lloyd Thompson Australia, Sedgwick and John C Lloyd Reinsurance.

Mr Schultz is expected to join AIMS on May 16 and will formally take over management of the joint venture on July 1.
